Land Clearing in McAllen, TX

Mesquite, huisache, retama, prickly pear — Valley brush takes over fast. RGV Excavation clears overgrown lots, ranch ground and building sites across McAllen and the Upper RGV, leaving you clean, usable, buildable land.

If you own land anywhere around McAllen, you already know how quickly it disappears under brush. A lot that was clear two seasons ago is suddenly a wall of mesquite and prickly pear. Whether you're getting ready to build, fencing a pasture, opening up a ranch road, or just trying to make a property usable again, the first step is clearing it down to ground you can actually work with — and that's exactly what we do.

What's Included

Every clearing job is scoped to the lot, but most include some mix of:

  • Brush & undergrowth removal — mesquite, huisache, retama, granjeno, prickly pear and tall grass cut and cleared.
  • Tree & stump removal — mature mesquite, ebony and hackberry taken out, including stumps and root balls when you need buildable ground.
  • Forestry mulching — brush ground into mulch that stays on site as ground cover, often the fastest and cheapest option.
  • Haul-off & debris disposal — when you want it gone completely, we load and haul it off.
  • Fence-line & ranch-road clearing — opening up access and property lines on larger acreage.
  • Rough grading after clearing — leaving the site level and ready for the next step.

Our Process

1. Walk the lot

We come out, walk the property with you, and look at brush density, tree size, terrain and access. This is also where we flag anything that affects price — heavy ebony, buried debris, or drainage that needs attention.

2. Written quote

You get a firm, written estimate: what's getting cleared, how the material is handled, and a fixed price. No vague “per hour” surprises.

3. Clear it

Our crew brings the right equipment — mulcher, dozer, skid steer or excavator depending on the job — and clears the lot on the schedule we agreed to.

4. Clean finish

We leave the ground clean and, if you want, rough-graded and ready to build, fence or pad. We walk the finished site with you before we pull off.

Why Clearing Is Different in the Rio Grande Valley

Valley brush is its own animal. Mesquite and huisache root deep and grow back from anything you leave behind, so a quick mow doesn't last — proper clearing means getting the stumps and root systems, not just the tops. Under that brush you've usually got caliche hardpan and expansive clay, which dulls equipment and changes how a lot needs to be graded once it's open.

And then there's water. The Valley is flat, and when those heavy South Texas rains come, cleared ground that wasn't shaped right will hold water and turn to soup. We clear with the next step in mind — so once the brush is gone, your lot is set up to drain, build or fence, not just sit there bare.

Land Clearing FAQ

How much does land clearing cost per acre?

It comes down to how heavy the brush is, the size of the trees, the terrain, and whether we mulch on site or haul material off. Light brush is far cheaper per acre than a lot full of mature mesquite and ebony. We give you a firm written number after a free on-site look — never a guess over the phone.

Do you mulch on site or haul the brush away?

Either one. Forestry mulching grinds everything into ground cover that stays on your land and is usually the cheaper, faster route. If you'd rather have it all gone, we'll haul the debris off completely. We'll tell you which makes more sense for your lot.

Can you take out big mesquite and ebony, stumps and all?

Yes. We remove mature mesquite, ebony, huisache and hackberry including stumps and root balls when you need genuinely clean, buildable ground rather than just a cut-back lot.

How long does it take?

A typical residential lot is often a one- or two-day job. Larger acreage is scheduled by size and brush density — we'll give you a realistic timeline in the quote.
