The short answer
A typical residential lot is a 1–2 day job. Forestry mulching covers roughly 1–3 acres a day in light-to-moderate brush; heavy mesquite and ebony with big trunks can drop that under an acre a day. Grubbing stumps and roots for construction adds time, and haul-off adds more. Think in days, not hours — and add slack if it's been raining.
What sets the pace
- Brush density and trunk size — thin retama and grass mulch at highway speed; a wall of mature mesquite is slow, deliberate work.
- Method — mulching in place is fastest. Grubbing roots for a build site moves more material and takes longer. Dozing and piling is fast on open ground but adds burn or haul time.
- What leaves the site — every load hauled off is loader and truck cycles added to the schedule.
- Access — tight gates, soft ground, overhead lines and neighbors' fences all slow the machine down.
Rough timelines by job
- Quarter- to half-acre lot, moderate brush, mulched: usually a single day.
- One-acre homesite, cleared and grubbed to build: commonly 2–4 days including root-raking and cleanup.
- Five to ten acres of ranch ground, mulched: most of a week, faster if the brush runs light.
- Anything with heavy haul-off or big ebony: quoted on its own — those jobs don't follow the averages.
The weather asterisk
Rain is the schedule-killer. Valley clay turns to grease when it's wet — machines rut the ground, trucks can't load, and pushing through mud does damage that costs more to fix than the delay. A day of hard rain usually costs two or three working days. We build that honesty into the timeline instead of promising dates the sky controls.
Booking the work
We quote most lots within a day or two of walking them, and most jobs start within the week.
